So if you didn’t already know, I went to Glastonbury festival last weekend and it was the most amazing 5 days ever! The sun was shining, the drinks flowing and we ate, walked, danced and listened to some excellent music all weekend ššµ
This festival is absolutely massive, to say the least… there are over 100 stages present at the site and on one of the days, I even reached 30,000 steps!! There were such great acts performing all weekend and some of my faves had to be Miley Cyrus (young me is proud!), Dave, Tame Impala, Anne-Marie, and Lewis Capaldi. Although honestly every single person we saw was amazing and brought so much energy and presence to their performance!
Glastonbury, however, is like no other festival and if you think it’s just about music, then you have it all wrong. If you are a bit bored with the music or want to get out of the sun for a while, you can head to the Greenpeace section to be a part of the protests, go to the yoga stations or cinemas to chill out, as well as have your palm or some cards read your future, or even go shopping at the little stalls dotted around the site, selling anything from clothes to jewellery and other accessories too. I have never been to or heard of any other festivals that have all of these activities among others, as well as so much music! As well as all of these activities, there were over 400 food stalls at the festival selling a variety of cuisines and types of food catering to all dietary requirements and preferences, all at reasonable prices! Honestly, this place is amazing!!! And I can’t say enough that it was one of the best experiences and weekends ever!
Festivals may not be for everyone, with the no showering and the grim toilets, but if you ever do decide to attend one, it should really be Glastonbury! Although the toilets and the camping experience is the same level of gross as other festivals, the experiences and activities in the day and evening make it oh so special!
A few things to know if you ever do get a chance to go:
- The distances between the gates and campsite, parking and gates, campsite and stages etc are LONG LONG LONG so be aware and reduce the things you bring into the site. We very much struggled to carry all our stuff into the campsite from our car and to be honest, there might have been tears… lol
- Bring alcohol and snacks with you! Unlike most other festivals you are allowed to take alcohol into the stages/arena area and so bringing alcohol saves you a lot of money while you there.
- Carry a water bottle that keeps water cold. Glastonbury has just gone plastic free (WOOOO!!!) and so bringing a water bottle to fill up from the many water taps around the festival will help your water keep cold, which trust me, you will need especially considering it hit 30 degrees when we were there!
But yes, I honestly could not recommend this festival enough and I don’t ever want to go to any other ones again! (I mean I probably will but you see my point lol)
I can’t wait to be back next year, and I'm already dreaming about it as I sit at my desk working with some serious festival blues!
357 days and counting š
