April Favourites

By Kim and Lea

It’s the end of April, which means one more month closer to Summer!!🌞
We thought we’d share some of our monthly favourites from April with you guys.

Lea’s favourites

Clinique Hydrating Gel
I bought this moisturiser at the end of March and have been using it throughout April. I scoured Duty Free for a day moisturiser without SPF because my makeup (foundation and BB cream) already has SPF in it and decided to go with this one. The gel look and feel really appealed to me as its quite different. I have never seen or used a moisturiser of this consistency / form but it has good reviews and felt really good on the skin when I tried it on. It's done good things for my skin and it helps my face stay hydrated all day!

Benefit Bad Gal Lash
My mum actually introduced me to this mascara while I was in Dubai. I tried hers on and honestly I was SHOOOK!! This mascara actually makes my lashes look like I’m wearing false lashes and I absolutely love it. I have been using the same, Maybelline the Falsies, mascara for years now, but ever since I tried this Benefit one out I have solely been using this. I really like the way it lengthens sooo much as well as voluminises my lashes even with one small coat!

Friends - Netflix Series
I know this is a really old TV series but I am really loving it at the moment. I’ve seen an episode here and there but this month I have been properly watching it on my way to and from work, for the first time, in order. It’s such a light hearted show and honestly makes me laugh like a hyena, which is sometimes very embarrassing on tube I must say. If you haven’t seen Friends, I would highly recommend it, if you’re in a bad, happy, or weird mood because it’s just too good not to watch.

Kim’s Favourites

The Ceiling - an album by Jaws
April 5th saw the long awaited third Jaws album and it didn’t disappoint. It definitely is my favourite album from them, with a diverse sounding track list from upbeat ‘Feel’ to the slow paced ‘January’, which  I think is added to by its raw sound which is completely different to the rest of the album. And the in-your-face obviousness of singer Connor’s influence, when you consider the sound of his solo music like ‘Sun Burns’. Overall, this is the album of the month for me.

Gurls Talk - a podcast hosted by Adwoa Aboah
I talked about this podcast in an earlier blog post (Book Club), but my appreciation for it has only increased! The episode featuring Dolly Alderton was an emotional rollercoaster that had me laughing and crying at the same time as I cleaned my bathroom and struggled to see through the tears. Her latest episode on Transgender Activism is just an example of the diversity of the topics covered that are important to learn about.

Purpleheart Pearl and Science Fiction - nail polishes by H&M
My last favourite I chose because they’re preeetty. I‘ve had a thing for the H&M polishes for a couple of years since I  bought a nude pink that I ended up overusing, but never got round to buying another polish until April. I was lured in by the array of metallics in the makeup section and struggled to pick between them all.  I went for the space green, Science Fiction and metallic red, Purpleheart Pearl. They stay on really well and the blue/green provides a bit of entertainment to stare at as it looks completely different under different lights. As with most polishes though, when you can’t be bothered to repaint them for 3 weeks the colour starts to look like little islands floating randomly on your nail. Apart from that, all good.
