I Like Long Romantic Walks To The Makeup Aisle

By Lea

I have been very passionate about makeup, doing my own and others’, for years now. I have grown my collection, throughout the years and so below I have collated a list of my OG favourites!
A list of makeup and beauty products that have been my favourites from day 1 (or close enough to day 1) and ones that I would recommend to everyone.

     1.  Maybelline, The Falsies mascara

This mascara is an absolute OG fave!! It’s excellent for lengthening and volumising your lashes. I have used it for years and even though I try others I continuously go back to it every time.

( yes, one of the shadows fell out😔)

      2.  Naked 2 eyeshadow palette

This palette was released in 2012 and still, after all these years it is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes! It has a Taupe vibe to it and includes all the basic shimmery and matte colours you could ever want to create for both daytime and nighttime looks. My favourite shades are Half Baked, Snakebite and YDK (all shimmery because, GLOW BABY!)
If you don’t already have this palette, I would highly recommend it. It's around £40, which sounds expensive, I know, but it lasts for ages and the shades are extremely pigmented, so overall, very worth it!

     3.   Anastasia Beverly Hills, Contour Kit Palette

I use the Medium to Tan palette as my skin is darker but they also have one for lighter skin tones. The palette has a variety of contour and banana powder shades, as well as a natural day highlighter which is very useful, especially for traveling. The only annoying thing, personally, is that it doesn’t have a mirror attached, but otherwise I rate the product a lot.

4.   Revlon Eyeliner Pen

This eyeliner is so easy to apply and I’ve been using it forever. I used to be terrible at doing a winged liner but with this pen, it applies smoothly and effortlessly, and is also very affordable at £7!

 5.   Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

This is a really good ‘going out’ / ‘night time’ primer that provides little to no flashback, which is ideal. I tend to use the primer after either a moisturiser, or a hydrating face primer as I think it has a better finish this way but may work differently for other skin types (mine is mixed, more on the dry side).

    6.   Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

If you want a matte finish and your makeup to stay in place all day, use this powder! I have used it for as long as I can remember and honestly, it's incredible. I personally use the translucent one as I already have quite a medium to heavy base on with my foundation but, there are various shades to choose from which all work insanely well and keeps your face matte throughout the day.

 7.  Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Cherry Me

Yes, I already know this is the lip balm every girl used back in 2010 and yes, I do get beefed about it a lot but I STILL stand by it!
It's moisturising, feels amazing on the lips for a long period of time and provides a really nice pinkish colour (really good if you don’t want to wear lippy that day). I usually put it on before I start my makeup so my lips are nicely prepared for when I apply lipstick and the product applies more smoothly.

   8. Dermoviva Olive Purifying Face Mask

This is a peel-off face mask that contains olive licorice and tea tree oil, which is amazing for your skin. It feels great while on and once you peel it off (which is obviously the most satisfying thing ever), my skin feels very refreshing!
Just in case you’re wondering what that crazy writing is all over face mask tube in the pic below, I got this face mask in Dubai. I am not entirely sure this exact mask is available in the UK, but they do sell the brand in Superdrug, and if not, try any face mask with olive and tea tree oil because it really does make the skin feel smoooooth.

   9. Garnier, Intensive 7 Days Restoring Hand Cream

People sometimes forget how important it is to keep hands moisturised to avoid future wrinkles. I have quite dry skin so I always have hand moisturiser on me, as it's very handy (pun very much intended) especially after washing your hands with soap. I really like this one as it smells quite nice but isn’t too powerfully perfumed and isn’t sticky after application. It's also only £2 which is amazing for such a good-sized tube and it’s under the liquid limit, so perfect for traveling!

I hope this post encourages some of you to try a few of these products because they really are the best! Obviously, different skin tones and types will require different products but some of the products above are quite neutral so should suit everyone.

Also, thanks for reading me waffle on about makeup and my OG faves as I could literally talk about make up for hours and probably will on this blog in the future 😜
